The verb tenir and it's many uses

The verb tenir means 'to hold' or 'to keep' but it has many and varied uses.

Likewise the reflexive form se tenir.

Examples:
	Tu peux tenir la lampe, s'il te plaît ? Can you (familiar) hold the lamp, please? tenir - 'to hold'
	Il tenait ses fils par la main. He held his sons by the hand. tenir - 'to hold'
	Qu'est-ce qu'il tient à la main ? What is he holding in his hand? tenir - 'to hold'
	Pourquoi se tient-il la jambe ? Why is he holding his leg? se tenir - 'to hold (himself)'
	Il est poli de tenir la porte aux autres. It is polite to hold the door for others. tenir - 'to hold'
