Each, once every - 씩

The Distributive particle 씩 is used after a number and/or counter

The function of 씩 is to emphasise the separation of things or time so they are treated one by one.

This is similar to the English words 'each' or 'per' or 'once every'.

Although unlike 'each' in English 씩 can be attached to object of the verb and not necessarily the frequency or number.

Examples:
	건강이 좋지 않아서 그는 하루에 한 번씩 조깅을 해요. Due to (his) poor health, he jogs once a day. 하루에 한 번씩 means 'once a day'
	아이들이 한 번에 한 명씩만 이야기하는데도 시끄러워요 It's noisy even when only one child at a time is talking. 한 명씩만 means 'only one person at a time'
	우리가 일 년에 한 번씩 휴가를 갔다가는 그녀가 화를 낼 거예요. If we really go on vacation once a year, she'll be mad. 일 년에 한 번씩 means 'once every one year' Verb stem + 다가는 is the pattern for 'if you actually do something'.
	제 한국어 실력은 조금씩 늘고 있어요. My Korean skill is improving little by little. 조금씩 means 'gradually' or 'bit by bit'
	한꺼번에 많이 하지 말고 조금씩 해요. Don't do a lot at once, do it little by little. 조금씩 means 'gradually' or 'bit by bit'
	아이한테 이만큼씩 하루에 두 번 주세요. Give the child this amount each time twice a day. 이만큼씩 means 'about this much each time'
	하루에 이만큼씩은 끝내야 해요. (You) have to complete this much every day. The contrastive marker 은 emphasises the amount
	비가 매일 이만큼씩 내렸어요. It rains this much every day.
	아내는 자다가 가끔씩 잠꼬대를 해요. My wife sometimes talks in (her) sleep. 가끔씩 means 'sometimes' or 'on occasions'
	바쁜 와중에도 일주일에 한 편씩 같이 영화를 보려고 노력해요. Despite being busy, (we) try to watch one movie together a week. 바쁜 와중에 means 'being busy' (idiomatic) 와중에 means 'in the middle of a vortex or whirlpool'
	오늘부터 매일 10km씩 걸을려고 해요. From today (I) intend to walk 10 km every day.
	한 사람한테 삽을 하나씩 주고 팝시다! Give each person a shovel and let's dig! 삽 means 'shovel' or 'spade' 파다 means 'to dig'
	주말에는 하루에 두 시간씩 운동해요. On the weekend (I) exercise two hours a day.
	일 년에 책을 열 권씩 읽어요. (I) read ten books a year.
	한번에 하나씩 드세요. Please eat one at a time.
	최근 몇 년 동안 한국에 일년에 두 번씩 갔어요. In recent years (I) went to Korea twice a year.
	이거 한 명씩 받는 거예요. Each person receives (gets) one.
	그는 하루에 열 번씩 화장실을 가야 해요. He has to go to the bathroom ten times a day. 화장실을 가다 (not 에) means 'to go to the toilet'
	한 사람한테 천 원씩 주세요. Give each person a thousand won.
	제 언어 선생님이 제게 매일 적어도 한 시간씩 테이프를 들으라고 했어요. My language teacher said I should listen to tapes for at least an hour every day.
